Introduction

By Rusty Tisdale

I’m a relatively new Catholic (confirmed Easter Vigil ‘07).  I’m also a notorious newshound and political junkie.  One of the things that appealed to me (by no means the reason I converted) about the Catholic Church was her ability to speak for Truth and stand up to political power – all without seeming partisan. This is, after all, how it should be.  A Christian isn’t a Republican or a Democrat, left or right.

But as a recovering Republican, how am I to put the teachings of the Catholic Church into practice this year as we select our next President?  Or how am I to allow the teachings of the Church challenge my own preconceived notions of what the role of government should or can be?

This is why I’m making this blog.  I need a place where I can flesh out some ideas. Be challenged and do some challenging of my own.  I’ll be honest about how I feel about candidates and issues, and if my opinions don’t line up to the Church ideals – I want to change them.

God bless.

    Tizzidale,

I for one am looking forward to your postings and writings.

I am a cradle Catholic that reverted a few years ago. I am also learning a lot about Catholic Social Doctrine which is helping me form the way I vote.

    Hands down McCain/Palin.

    God bless,

    Tito
